Dorset rail misery due to signalling fault

Train passengers in Dorset have been facing more travel disruption because of a signalling failure.

The fault, which caused all signals to fail between Poole and Wool, developed on Wednesday afternoon, causing long delays to journeys.

Only one train per hour was able to run in each direction between Bournemouth and Weymouth, South Western Railway said.

Network Rail has now fixed the fault and trains are able to run as normal.

However, some services may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised and disruption was expected until 16:00 GMT.

Earlier passengers vented their anger on social media.
