Devon County Council opposition leader steps down from role
The opposition leader at Devon County Council is to step down after more than eight years in the role.
Alan Connett has served as leader of the Liberal Democrat group since December 2013.
He will be replaced by his current deputy, Julian Brazil, at the end of April, but will stay on as a county councillor.
Mr Connett, also leader of Teignbridge District Council, thanked colleagues for their "help and support".
Mr Brazil praised the outgoing leader and thanked him for "all the hard work and all the great work he's done".
He said: "I'm honoured they've selected me as their new leader and I hope I can continue the good work that Alan's done."
