A controlled explosion has taken place after a suspected World War Two device was found in the River Derwent in Derby.

Derbyshire Police closed Derwent Street and Exeter Bridge after the discovery on Sunday afternoon.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called to the scene, where the controlled explosion was carried out.

The force said a 100m (328ft) cordon had been lifted and all roads had reopened.
