Grant will pay for road changes in Radstock

An £800,000 government grant will enable improvement work on roads in Radstock to take place.

The money, from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖs and Community Agency, will fund a short new link road between The Street and Frome Road.

Bath and North East Somerset Council said it would also allow two-way traffic on The Street which is currently one way.

A single roundabout outside the Co-op supermarket will also replace the current double roundabout.

It is expected the work will start in October and will take six months to complete.

Jay Lambe, from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖs and Community Agency, said the changes to the road layout were designed to help businesses in the town.

"The existing highway infrastructure in Radstock has been identified as adversely impacting on the town centre for some time," he said.
