Three people had to be rescued from a ride after it malfunctioned at a fairground.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Caversham, Reading at about 16:15 BST on 21 April, to find the fair-goers trapped 6m (20ft) off the ground.

The site, near George Street, is occupied by Reading's May Family Fun Fair, the borough council confirmed.

An aerial ladder platform was used to free them, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Crews from Wokingham Road and Theale Fire Station were at the scene for about 45 minutes.

None of the riders were treated by paramedics, the fire service added.

The details and name of the ride have not been confirmed.

Reading's May Family Fun Fair is running from 19 April to 6 May at Hills Meadow Car Park.

Event organisers S&L Amusement Fun Fairs have been approached for comment.
