A stretch of the M4 in Berkshire has reopened after being closed for more than 17 hours after a lorry crash.

The motorway was shut westbound for resurfacing work between junction 13 for Newbury and junction 14 for Hungerford Newtown.

National Highways said the lorry had crossed through the central reservation and ruptured its fuel tank causing a diesel spillage across the road.

Traffic approaching the incident tailed back for up to four miles (6.4km).
