A third youth has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 15-year-old boy died when he was stabbed in a skate park in Slough.

The boy was found injured in Salt Hill Park at about 18:30 BST on Saturday. He died at the scene.

Post-mortem tests showed he died of "a stab wound to the chest", police said.

Two 15-year-old boys already being held on suspicion of murder remain in custody, while a 17-year-old boy was arrested later on Sunday.

The victim's family has been informed, although formal identification has not yet taken place.

Thames Valley Police said the stabbing followed an "altercation" involving a group of males.

Det Ch Insp Andy Shearwood said: "We have now made three arrests as our murder investigation progresses.

'Not random'

"A scene watch which has been in place at Salt Hill Park will soon be lifted and the park will be re-opened to the public as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone for their patience throughout this."

Earlier, he said he wanted to "further reassure people that we believe that all of those involved in this incident were known or associated with each other, and that this was not a random attack".

Det Ch Inp Shearwood said he believed a number of people were in the skate park at the time and appealed for witnesses, especially anyone with mobile phone footage, to come forward.

A resident said she was extremely concerned by the stabbing.

Chloe, who did not give her surname, said: "I look at it and think if that was my son how would I be feeling, so I can just imagine how his family are feeling."

In 2017 a man died three weeks after being stabbed in Salt Hill Park.
