Euro 2020: England fans celebrate after win against Germany

England's football fans celebrated across the country as their team beat Germany 2-0 in the Euro 2020 last-16 clash at Wembley stadium.
There were jubilant scenes as fans kitted out in England football strips and costumes gathered in designated fan zones, pubs and bars to see Gareth Southgate's men reach the tournament's quarter-finals.

There were 40,000 fans allowed into Wembley - the biggest crowd at a football match in England since March 2020, but still less than half its usual capacity. Some fans who couldn't get in celebrated in the fan zone outside
England fans will hope Harry Kane's first goal of the tournament, celebrated here in Manchester in scenes not showing much evidence of social distancing, will give him confidence heading into the next game

Fans tumbled over the tarpaulin at Wembley after Raheem Sterling's opener put England on their way to ending their 55-year wait to beat Germany in the knockout stage of a major tournament
England play next on Saturday at 20:00 BST in the quarter-finals in Rome - but the FA has said it cannot put any tickets on sale to England fans living in the UK because of travel restrictions
They will face Ukraine, whose fans celebrated a last-gasp winner in extra time as they beat Sweden 2-1 at Hampden Park in Glasgow
Elsewhere, England fans enjoyed the game in the Trafalgar Square Fan Zone in central London
It followed tense scenes around the country earlier in the match - including at Boxpark in Croydon, south London
The Duke of Cambridge, president of the Football Association, was joined at Wembley by his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, and their eldest child, seven-year-old Prince George
The Cambridges were joined in the stadium by famous faces including the singer Ed Sheeran and ex-England captain David Beckham
David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, the comedians who co-wrote the 1996 fan favourite Three Lions, reunited at Wembley for the match
One group of England supporters were on the edge of their seats as they followed the game from Vinegar Yard bar in south-east London
The rapper Stormzy watched the match at Boxpark Wembley in north-west London
Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted a photograph of him watching the match with wife Carrie, alongside the caption "Come on England!"
