Your pictures: Insects
Every week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme was insects and we start with an image taken by J Knight Johnson: "One of many soldier beetles on a sunflower in a Wisconsin garden."
Sampat Kumar Naik: "My brother allowing himself to be bitten by a mosquito on a warm January morning."
Ceri Griffiths: "Taken at a food market in a back street of Beijing. The smaller insects are wriggling on the sticks before being fried and eaten."
Ranjani Pinnelli: "This guy was sitting on my lap keeping me company while I waited for my husband who was donating blood."
Sean Grady: "Dead earwigs in a glass of squash."
Erica Cooper: "These baby spiders hatched in the morning, and were making their way down to the ground, each suspended by a fine silk thread in Bangor, Maine, USA."
Simon Hunt: "My daughter Holly finds a Praying Mantis whilst on holiday in Spain. She wasn't to be intimidated by his sinister glare!"
Benjamin Balfour: "Red Ants in Indonesia swarm a shower head! I never could work it out."
Tarl Vetter: "It has always amazed me how perfectly amber preserves insects. The transparent material and amazing details of these insects seemed like a good test for a homemade lightbox."
Bob Faraway: "When I moved this Puss Moth Caterpillar to a safer place I noticed a small opening on the back of it's head, which was opening and closing. I later found that to protect itself it can eject a jet of acid."
Paige Stagg: "Tiny black bugs sitting in a yellow flower :)."
Enea Abbud: "Walking my dogs, I stumbled upon a well deserved catch." If you'd like to enter, send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. Details of themes and terms can be seen on the photo blog - just follow the link below this gallery.
