The follow-up to Communion - the debut album from Years & Years which sold more than a million copies worldwide - will be an even better record and that's a "fact".

And how do we know this? Because the band told us so, after their set at Radio 1's Big Weekend.

"It's in the pipeline somewhere. Dunno what pipe it's in," they say, confirming they have written some new material.

"It's still gestating, like a baby."

Mikey chips in: "It'll be better than the first one though. Fact."

Earlier this month they had to drop out of the remaining tour dates with Ellie Goulding, after Olly became ill.

The band are in the middle of a pretty gruelling schedule, having flown in from Hanover for the festival in Exeter, with plans to return to the US next week.

"We're like an epidemic," they joke.

"This [Big Weekend] doesn't feel like the UK because it's so sunny so I'm confused," says Olly.

"Sometimes I expect people to be speaking a different language," he adds later.

"But then I'm like, "Oh, they're English," so I don't have to embarrass myself in a shop being like, "merci".

If you haven't been at Radio 1's Big Weekend, you might not realise that music isn't just played on stage, but all around the site.

And there's a certain Canadian singer who seems to be on a lot - have Years & Years ever considered a collaboration?

"Mikey loves Justin Bieber," says Olly.

Mikey replies: "Wouldn't be so bad."
