Singer/songwriter Duffy had the biggest selling album in the UK in 2008

Duffy has begun recording sessions for the follow-up to her debut Rockferry in New York.

According to Billboard the singer, from Nefyn in north-west Wales, is writing material along with hip hop drummer Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson and Albert Hammond Snr, father of The Strokes' guitarist Albert Hammond Jnr.

Her debut album sold 848,000 copies in the US and also bagged her a Grammy for best pop vocal album.

The as-yet-untitled album is due to be released sometime in 2010.

Drummer Questlove, a member of The Roots, has previously contributed to tracks by Christina Aguilera and N*E*R*D.

A distinguished songwriter in his own right, Albert Hammond Snr enjoyed a string of hits in the 1970s.

Following the success of her debut, Duffy also won a trio of Brit awards last year including British female, British breakthrough and British album.
