Catch up with the latest from Sunday with Laura Kuenssbergpublished at 10:30 Greenwich Mean Time
On this week's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Cabinet Office Minister Pat McFadden discussed the resignation of former transport secretary Louise Haigh over a decade-old fraud offence.
Today's host, Victoria Derbyshire, showed a past clip of Sir Keir Starmer stating that you "cannot be a lawmaker and a lawbreaker" and asked if the current Prime Minister is a hypocrite.
McFadden disagreed, saying he believes Starmer has appointed "a good cabinet".
But Labour's Diane Abbott, also on the programme, said Starmer knew about Haigh's past conviction from the start, questioning, "so why throw her under the bus? It makes him look bad."
McFadden also addressed migration, as the UK reached a net migration record of 906,000 in the year to June 2023. He told Derbyshire the government won't include a numerical target in their plan this week, as "targets for net migration haven鈥檛 worked very well".
Derbyshire also questioned Shadow Environment Secretary Victoria Atkins on migration. Atkins acknowledged the previous government aimed to reduce immigration but failed, but said the new leader Kemi Badenoch has promised a cap.
