Among the nominations for best actor was Eddie Redmayne, for his portrayal of a transgender woman in the film The Danish Girl.
Kate Winslet was nominated for the film Steve Jobs, as best supporting actress, and Charlotte Rampling as best actress for her role in 45 Years, a film shot on location in Norfolk.
A favourite for best film is The Revenant. Its leading man Leonardo DiCaprio found out he was nominated as best actor only minutes before I sat down with him and best director nominee Alejandro Inarritu, for a chat.
