Comedienne Miranda Hart will take over from Chris Evans as host of the Radio 2 breakfast show, for a week next month.

Hart and sidekick Jon Holmes, who have previously presented bank holiday shows for the station, will present from 3 October while Evans takes a break.

Holmes, who has written comedies including Dead Ringers, also presents a Saturday afternoon show on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 6 Music.

Hart said she was looking forward to spending mornings with Holmes "and his ridiculous bed head".

"There aren't many people I am happy to spend the breakfast hours with, but I can't think of anyone nicer than the Radio 2 massive," she said.

Comedian Holmes, who has also written for shows including Horrible Histories and The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson, said he was looking forward to waking up "between Miranda on one side and the entire nation on the other".

"That promises to be quite some party the night before," he added.

Hart's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two sitcom, Miranda, in which she plays an exaggerated version of herself, has earned a slew of honours including prizes at the British Comedy Awards and the RTS Television Awards.

The third series, which has already been commissioned, will see the show moved from ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One.
