Choreographer Kim Gavin, who worked with Take That on their Circus tour, has been appointed artistic director for the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony.

The Royal Ballet trained dancer also choreographed the Concert for Diana and the Help the Heroes Concert.

Gavin said he was "honoured" to be involved with the sporting event, which will be held in London next summer.

Composer David Arnold, who has scored several James Bond films has been appointed music director.

Arnold has also produced records for artists including Dame Shirley Bassey, George Michael and the Kaiser Chiefs.

"As a nation we excel throughout the world in music, and our team will be readying an electrifying and thrilling soundtrack for this spectacular event," he said.

Award-winning costume designer Es Devlin will be in charge of costumes for the event.

Devlin has previously worked with Lady Gaga, Muse, Kanye West and the Pet Shop Boys.

She also designs opera, drama and dance for the Royal Opera House, English National Opera and the National Theatre.

The film-maker Danny Boyle was named last year as artistic director of the opening ceremony, which will take place on 27 July, 2012.
