In pictures: Golden Globes 2011
Actors Colin Firth and Christian Bale flew the flag for Britain at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles, where the stars were recognised for their perfomances in The King's Speech and The Fighter respectively.
Yet their compatriot Helena Bonham Carter - wearing a Vivienne Westwood gown and odd shoes - left the event empty-handed, as did her fellow nominees Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman.
The Social Network took home four awards, among them a brace for director David Fincher(l) and writer Aaron Sorkin (r). Natalie Portman was named best actress in a drama for Black Swan.
Glee was the main winner in the TV categories, with cast members Chris Colfer (l) and Jane Lynch (r) both taking home prizes. Elsewhere Steve Buscemi (r) was named best actor in a TV drama for HBO's Boardwalk Empire.
Al Pacino (l) and Robert De Niro (r) were among the Hollywood veterans recognised at the Los Angeles event. So was actress Annette Bening (centre), honoured ahead of her Kids are All Right co-star Julianne Moore.
Green was a popular colour on the red carpet, sported by both Catherine Zeta Jones (pictured left with husband Michael Douglas) and Angelina Jolie (pictured right with partner Brad Pitt).
Singer Christina Aguilera (l), Anne Hathaway and Scarlett Johansson (r) were among the other stars at the Golden Globes, Hollywood's biggest annual awards gala outside of the Oscars.
