Welsh rock band Bullet For My Valentine have scooped two prizes at this year's Kerrang! Awards, including best British group for the third year running.

They were also named best live band, following a headline appearance at this year's Download Festival.

Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds To Mars were named best international group, while Paramore took the best album trophy for Brand New Eyes.

Motley Crue received the Kerrang! hall of fame trophy at the London ceremony.

Biffy Clyro, who are nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize, walked away with the best video award for The Captain.

The clip features lead singer Simon Neil as a prisoner trussed up on a pirate ship riding the high seas.

London-based metal band Rise to Remain, who are fronted by Bruce Dickinson's son Austin, were crowned best British newcomers.

Meanwhile, the gong for best international newcomer went to Californians Trash Talk and German band Rammstein were presented with the inspiration award.

Two posthumous awards were handed out during the ceremony.

The icon award went to musician Ronnie James Dio, best known for performing in Rainbow, Black Sabbath and, up until his death in May, Heaven & Hell.

Slipknot bassist and songwriter Paul Gray, who also died in May, was honoured with the Kerrang! services to metal award.
