Davos 2011: The World Economic Forum in pictures
Security was ramped up for the event, which attracts some of the richest, most powerful and most influential people in the world.
The World Economic Forum organisers made sure they were greeted by more than just snipers.
Finding the best way forward after the financial crisis was one of the main topics discussed.
But it wasn't all economics. Jonathan Rothberg, founder of technology company Ion Torrent, was at the "Personalised Medicine" session.
There were some interesting encounters.
Former US President Bill Clinton captivated the audience as he spoke about Haiti, the Middle East and becoming a grandfather.
Both India and China sent their biggest ever delegations to this year's event.
Bono brought a bit of rock star quality to Davos. The U2 frontman joined a panel, including Melinda Gates, who discussed how to cut infant deaths.
British Prime Minister David Cameron joined Bill and Melinda Gates on stage to announce the UK would be doubling its funding for polio vaccinations.
On the final day, a group of protestors clashed with Swiss riot police
