Bradford Council will consider plans to turn a former bank into flats and a commercial space in July

Plans have been lodged to bring a vacant city centre bank back into use.

The Royal Bank of Scotland closed its Bank Street location in Bradford more than two years ago, arguing fewer people were using physical branches.

The Grade II listed building was then sold at auction for 拢315,000 late last year.

An application to Bradford Council proposes to keep the ground floor unit as a commercial space and converting the upper floors into nine flats.

Previously, the three upper floors had been office space for the bank, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The plans have been submitted by Mr Erdem, of London-based real estate company Europe Entertainment Ltd, who said they would "reinvigorate" the building.

The application added: 鈥淭hrough careful design considerations, we aim to ensure that the proposed development respects the heritage of the existing property and its context, to provide additional living space whilst contributing positively to the city centre conservation area.鈥

A decision on the application is expected next month.
