A busy roundabout remains partially closed after a coach overturned and spilt 300 litres (66 gallons) of diesel.

Essex Police said officers attended a single-vehicle incident at the Rayleigh Spur roundabout, on the A130, on Monday evening.

They found a coach blocking the carriageway. The driver had "minor injuries".

A section of the roundabout, where the A130 joins the A1245, was expected to be closed for "several hours" on Tuesday while it was made safe, police said.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said three crews cleared the diesel within 45 minutes.

Station manager Mark Elliot said the driver had not been trapped in the vehicle when they arrived.

"Crews worked quickly to clean a large amount of diesel using specialist kit we carry in the fire engines," he added.
