Long delays heading into Birmingham on the A38(M) Aston Expressway were reported following a crash on Wednesday evening.

National Highways West Midlands said emergency barrier repairs were taking place on the A38 Lancaster Circus flyover but the road was later fully open at 14:30 BST on Thursday.

The A38 Queensway tunnels heading into the city centre were closed, following a collision within one of the tunnels, but reopened on Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, Transport for West Midlands stated the A38 Queensway was closed northbound, impacting traffic between Bristol Street and the Expressway.

Traffic southbound was being diverted off at Dartmouth Circus, impacting back onto and across junction six of the M6, Spaghetti Junction.

Earlier, National Highways West Midlands said the collision within a tunnel required emergency repairs and Birmingham City Council would be attending on Thursday morning.

The crash happened northbound at about 19:30 BST on Wednesday and the two A38 tunnels in the city were closed northbound, traffic information supplier Inrix said.
