Man accused of murder bid on police officer with stolen car
A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a police officer in Edinburgh.
Thomas Malone is accused of trying to run the officer over in a stolen car outside a petrol station on Stenhouse Road on Tuesday afternoon.
The 27-year-old also faces charges of abduction and assault for allegedly stealing the Mercedes when a 16-year-old boy was inside.
Mr Malone was charged with a total of 19 offences, including 12 under the 1988 Road Traffic Act, during an initial appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Other charges include theft of a motor vehicle, attempting to pervert the course of justice, threatening and abusive behaviour and two counts of breaching bail conditions.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Mr Malone will appear again within the next eight days.
