Train services through Doncaster could be cancelled or delayed following an incident on the line, passengers have been warned.
A person was hit by a train in the area on Monday, and as a result emergency services were working on the line, according to National Rail.
Disruption was expected until about 15:00 BST following the incident, a spokesperson added.
British Transport Police said the person had been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries and remained in a serious condition.
A rail replacement service had been arranged between Wakefield Westgate and Doncaster, operator LNER said.
"As soon as the line is open again, the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again," National Rail said.
"We expect the advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by approximately 15:10."
Ticket acceptance was in place with East Midlands Railway between London St Pancreas and Sheffield, and on CrossCountry services between Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and York.
