A driver who died in a crash with a lorry in Dumfries and Galloway has been named by police.

Archie Williams, 23, was driving a BMW when he was fatally injured in Lockerbie on Tuesday 29 October.

The crash, which also involved an articulated lorry, happened on the B7076, near the junction with the A709 at about 23:55.

Police want to speak to witnesses, particularly the driver of a red car that was in the area at the time.

Sgt Colin Ramage offered his condolences to the family of Mr Williams, who was from Lockerbie.

"We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist," he said.

"Any driver with dashcam footage is asked to please contact us as soon as possible.

"We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with our investigation."

The 65-year-old driver of the lorry did not require hospital treatment.
