Two bullet holes have been found in the front door of a house in Stoke-on-Trent, prompting a police appeal.

Officers said they were called to Bishop Road in Chell Heath just before 15:00 GMT on Tuesday when the holes were discovered.

Nobody inside the house was injured, they said, but two loud bangs were heard at about 21:30 GMT the previous evening, although no suspicious activity was spotted in the area at the time.

Police said they would be conducting further inquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the Staffordshire force, particularly if they have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area on Monday night.

People can call 101, quoting incident 434 of 16 January, or get in touch by calling Crimestoppers anonymously.
