A man who used a hidden camera to film female colleagues in a staff toilet has been jailed for two years.

Adam Devaney, 35, was arrested by North Yorkshire Police after the device was discovered at his York workplace in April 2021.

Officers identified 18 victims throughout the course of their investigation, one of whom said she felt "degraded and violated" by Devaney's actions.

Devaney, from Selby, was sentenced at York Crown Court after pleading guilty to 20 counts of voyeurism.

The camera - which was found hidden inside a pen - and Devaney's laptop revealed footage of female staff using the toilet.

They also contained videos of Devaney setting up the device in the toilet, leaving, then returning to retrieve them.

In victim personal statements read to the court, one woman said: 鈥淚 struggle to use work staff toilets or public toilets without being scared that a hidden device may be recording me."

Det Con Jenna Hallewell, of North Yorkshire Police鈥檚 Safeguarding Investigation Team praised the bravery of the victims.

"Sadly, the impact of what he did will stay with them forever," she said.

"I hope, however, that they will take some comfort in the fact that he has been brought to justice, and must now face the consequence of his actions.鈥
