Two people wanted on recall to prison have been apprehended in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police said they were out in force in the city to keep children safe during the summer holidays.

Vehicle crime, drug-related activity and violence among youths are being targeted in the operation.

Patrols have taken place in Dudley Street, Queen Street, skate park subways, St Peter's Garden and around the railway station.

Officers stopped and searched several individuals and arrested the two people wanted on recall to prison.

The operation included officers from the serious organised crime and exploitation unit, the Guardian Task Force (Western), which is WMP's dedicated youth violence and knife crime team and British Transport Police.

Wolverhampton-based PC Pete McKinnon said it was "not only aimed at reducing criminal activity but also highlighted our commitment to community engagement and reassurance".
