A woman has been arrested after a dog bit three people in a social club, leaving them needing care from paramedics.

Police were called to the club on Weddington Road, Nuneaton, at 18:00 BST on Monday to reports a large dog was out of control.

Officers arrested the 23-year-old woman and contained the dog, which will undergo a behaviour assessment by a police dog liason officer.

The police force said injuries included large bites and wounds which caused significant bleeding.

The suspect was also taken to hospital where she allegedly assaulted two officers and two nurses and shouted racial slurs.

The 23-year-old woman from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, owning a dog dangerously out of control, four counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and of violating section 5 of the Public Order Act regarding racial abuse.
