Ambulance on 999 call overturns in crash with taxi

An ambulance overturned when it collided with a taxi while answering an emergency call.

North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said two crew members and a taxi passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash at Switch Island in Liverpool at about 18:40 BST on Sunday.

NWAS said all casualties were treated at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

A NWAS spokeswoman said the trust was assisting with the Merseyside Police investigation.

The spokeswoman said: "The ambulance was on its way to an emergency and was not carrying any patients.

"The two crew members and the passenger in the taxi were taken to Aintree Hospital and treated for minor injuries."

She added: "The trust is working with the police to investigate the incident."
