A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a hit-and-run involving a suspected stolen motorbike.
The boy was riding his BMX bike in Maidenwell Avenue, Leicester, when the crash occurred at 15:15 BST on Saturday.
He suffered a head injury, and grazing to his shoulders, and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Leicestershire Police said the motorbike, which was believed to have been stolen a short time before, fled the scene and was later found on fire.
Detectives believe the motorbike involved - a silver Honda CBF125 that was reported stolen from Highcross Street, Leicester, earlier on Saturday - was riding alongside another motorbike at the time of the crash.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it attended a report of a motorbike on fire - believed to be the same one involved in the crash - in Malsbury Avenue in Leicester.
Businesses and residents have been asked to check CCTV by officers, who are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
