Three charged after man injured in clifftop fall
Three men have been charged after another man suffered serious injuries in a fall from a clifftop.
Police were called to Whitburn, South Tyneside, on Friday to reports of an altercation between four men.
One them fell about 20ft (6m) to the beach below, and he remains in a critical condition in hospital, Northumbria Police said.
Officers arrested three men, aged between 20 and 24, who have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
It happened at about 08:30 GMT.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was also called to the scene, and it airlifted the injured man to hospital.
