Man fatally stabbed in Tower Hamlets is named
Police have named a man who died in a fatal stabbing in east London.
Abdul Jalloh, 23, who lived in the area, was found by police who were called to New Union Close, Isle of Dogs at 16:15 BST on Monday after reports that a man had been stabbed.
Despite being treated at the scene by medics, Mr Jalloh died a short time later.
One person has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody, the Metropolitan Police added.
While formal identification has not yet taken place, his family have been told and are being supported by specialist officers, the Met said.
A post-mortem examination will take place in due to establish the cause of death.
Acting Ch Supt Brigid Beehag-Fisher said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the young man who has lost his life.
"Police received a number of calls from concerned members of the public when the victim was found yesterday afternoon, but we think there are a number of other people who saw what happened who have yet to speak to us.
"My colleagues in our homicide team are working to establish exactly what happened and it鈥檚 incredibly important that they hear from those people."
Extra patrols have been put in place in the local area while officers remain at the crime scene.
"I urge local people to speak to them and share information that they think can help us bring to justice whoever was responsible for this terrible violence," she added.
