Traffic light theft 'could have caused accident'

Thieves who took temporary traffic lights and pedestrian crossing lights from outside a school "could have caused a serious accident".
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed it was investigating the theft of the lights from outside Fairfield Spencer Academy in Stapleford.
The force said they were taken from Toton Lane at about 23:45 BST on 27 April.
New temporary lights were put in place following the theft to allow roadworks to continue.
PCSO Christopher Jones said: 鈥淭his theft meant that the flow of the traffic was impeded with a set of lights missing which could have caused a serious accident on a dangerous bend during a lane closure.
"The incident would also have caused motorists a great deal of anxiety and distress."
Officers are appealing for anyone with information or footage to come forward.
