Drink-drive council boss banned after crash

The former boss of a south London council has been disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work after he admitted drink and driving, failing to stop after a car crash and driving without insurance.
Bayo Dosunmu, who was chief executive of Lambeth Council until his arrest earlier this year, pleaded not guilty to possessing Class A drugs and will be tried for that offence next year.
Dosunmu, 46, was involved in a crash in June with a car waiting at traffic lights at the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road and Townmead Road in Fulham, south-west London.
He did not stop until the other car forced him to pull over.
'Relying on friends'
A police breathalyser test found him to be almost three times the legal limit.
Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring told Dosunmu: 鈥淵ou have previous good character. There鈥檚 significant impact on your career. You have lost your job.
"You have led a blameless life and it has been highlighted you have led a life in public service.鈥
The court heard how since losing his 拢190,000 salary at the council, Dosunmu had been relying on friends and family for assistance.
The council is currently recruiting for his replacement.
