Elderly dog walker violently assaulted in York - police
A man in his late seventies was "violently assaulted" while walking his dog in York, police have said.
The attack took place on Osbaldwick Lane, Tang Hall, at about 16:15 GMT on Monday 29 January.
The victim was taken to hospital after the assault which happened as he passed a bus stop, North Yorkshire Police said.
A man in his 30s has been charged with wounding and was remanded to appear in court on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said: "Although several witnesses have already come forward, it is believed there were more people in the vicinity who saw the assault or the events surrounding it and officers are urging these people to come forward."
