A church has erected three large crosses on a hillside to reflect the significance of Easter to Christians and encourage the local community to join its al-fresco Good Friday service.

For a third year, crosses made by the church team at St Margaret's, Ratlinghope, Shropshire have been displayed on land owned by members of the congregation.

It has become a meaningful way to reflect on the true meaning of Easter as well as being a talking point, said church administrator Sue Cooke.

Sixty five people joined the outdoor Good Friday service in 2023, and about 100 people are expected this year.

"You can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. It's a perfect backdrop for our Good Friday service of reflection," said Ms Cooke.

Anybody can join the service, and transport will be on offer for those who may struggle to climb the hill.

"We're praying it remains dry and sunny," the church administrator added.
