A man has been charged with dangerous driving and assaulting an emergency worker, following reports that a lorry was being driven erratically.

The lorry was being driven through Stafford on Monday evening when police received reports that a lorry had been in collision with two cars.

The 51-year-old from Wolverhampton was also charged with failing to stop after a road accident, driving without a licence and using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance.

He is due to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Wednesday.

Staffordshire Police had attended Lammascote Road in Stafford just after 18:30 BST after reports that a lorry had been in collision with two cars.

A short time later, officers from the specialist road policing unit located the lorry on Foregate Street.

They followed it on to Lichfield Road, where they bought it to a stop safely.
