Tip could partially reopen after safety works

A tip which has been closed for more than a month could be partially reopened.
Work has been taking place to find a way to partially open Wombourne Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) again after it shut for safety reasons.
Staffordshire County Council said subsidence was discovered on an internal road at the site, which meant it was unsafe for the public.
Experts have been on-site examining the situation and hope to have a definitive answer soon, they added.
Simon Tagg, cabinet member for environment, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e keen to partially reopen the site if we鈥檙e able to though, of course, public safety comes first.
鈥淲e鈥檙e sorry for the inconvenience: since the closure we鈥檝e been working hard to find solutions 鈥 and we鈥檙e still looking at some other options.鈥
The authority said people can take household waste to Bilbrook HWRC, which is 10 miles away, while the Wombourne site is closed.
