A specialist police marine unit is due to arrive in Orkney to assist with a search for a diver who went missing last week.

The man - a commercial scallop diver based in the islands - was reported missing while working in the Scapa Flow area just after 14:30 on Wednesday.

Helicopters were called in as part of the land, air and sea search operation.

Coastguard teams have continued to search the area, which is popular for diving, and Police Scotland鈥檚 marine and dive unit will arrive later.

Two coastguard helicopters had combed the area, alongside rescue teams and lifeboats, before police took over the operation.

Orkney Islands Council tugs were also involved.

Coastguards searched again on Sunday, assisted by lifeboats, concentrating on the coastline around Scapa Flow.

The man's identity has not been confirmed.
