Three more people, including a 17-year-old boy, have been charged as part of the investigation into disorder in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth.

Matthew Rush, 30, of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, and Mitchell Cleaver, 25, of Burton-on-Trent, have both been charged with violent disorder.

Staffordshire Police said the teenage boy, from Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, had been charged with the same offence.

All three were due to appear before North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Friday.

More than 40 people have been arrested following the disorder in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth, and 12 people had so far been charged, a force spokesperson said.

The disorder in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, broke out on 3 August with missiles hurled at police as hundreds of people protested.

Rioters were seen throwing petrol bombs at the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Tamworth a day later, with one officer suffering a suspected broken arm.
