A former colliery site is expected to be developed to create more than 200 homes in South Yorkshire.

The plan for where East Gawber Hall Colliery stood would see 221 homes built on land off Wakefield Road, Barnsley, with the Gleeson 成人快手s scheme recommended for approval.

A Barnsley Council report said the location could potentially be at risk from "mining legacy issues such as ground instability", with concerns raised by the聽Coal Authority.

The concerns were later withdrawn following further information and remediation works, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Outline plans for the site were approved by the local authority in 2018, with more detailed plans set to be considered by the council on Tuesday.

If the scheme is approved, Gleeson 成人快手s would be required to pay 拢1.1m to help create local school capacity and provide 22 affordable homes.

A new junction on Wakefield Road would be created to access the development, with a footpath along a former railway linking the site to the surrounding area.
