Runners are being urged to sign up for an annual race for charity.

Guernsey Mind said more than 100 people had signed up to the 10km race, which raises fund for the mental health charity.

It said applications to take part in the event on 8 September close on 12 August.

Amanda Hibbs, communications and events lead for the charity, said this year's theme was "challenging yourself" and organisers hoped runners of all abilities would get involved.

"The event raises awareness around mental health and wellbeing. We all know exercise is good for our bodies, but it's just as crucial for our minds," she said.

"We are extremely grateful to Investec to supporting this event again. It means that every penny raised will go directly to supporting our work within the Bailiwick."

Anna Malcolm, Investec's sponsorship co-ordinator, said: "The beauty of this event is it appeals to all ages, so whether you鈥檙e new to running, want to move up from 5km to 10km, smash your personal best or team up with a buddy to tackle the distance together, it鈥檚 a hugely rewarding experience."

Lisa Newman, who is among the staff from the bank taking part, said it was her first time taking part in a 10km run, adding it was a "fantastic opportunity" to push herself beyond her comfort zone.

"I have been training for the past nine weeks and it鈥檚 been both hard and rewarding but this will be a huge personal achievement for me and I鈥檓 determined to get to the finish line," she said.
