Man accused of sex offence and assaulting police

A man has been charged with a sexual offence and assaulting a police officer following an attack in Stafford.
The 39-year-old, from Stafford, has been accused of sexual assault, common assault of an emergency worker and two counts of criminal damage.
The offences were alleged to have taken place in the town centre on 24 August, Staffordshire Police said.
The man has been remanded in custody and will appear at Cannock Magistrates’ Court on 15 October.
