Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in Surrey.
Officers were called to Cleeve Road, Leatherhead, at about 23:30 BST on Sunday following reports of a man who had been left with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The man was believed to have been attacked by three to four men "described as in their late teens and dressed in black," Surrey Police said.
Cleeve Road is closed at the junction with Randalls Crescent while police carry out further enquires.
Det Insp Josephine Horner said the force was "doing everything we can to progress our enquiries and ensure that the cordon is lifted as soon as possible".
Mr Horner added officers would be present in the area on Monday, to "reassure" anyone with concerns about the incident.
The force appealed for any witnesses, particularly those in the area at the time, to come forward.
