Three-month roadworks to begin on busy city road

A three-month road closure on a key route through Salford is set to begin.
The 拢700,000 works will take place on Eccles Old Road in August following council concerns about its deteriorating condition.
The scheme, which will include resurfacing, drainage, new road markings and the removal of a bus lane are expected to last until October, Salford Council said.
A Department for Transport grant has funded the work along the route, which provides access to Salford Royal Hospital and joins the A6 Broad Street towards Manchester.
The council recently faced criticism over the condition of Salford's road network, after it was revealed at a town hall meeting that there had been a spike in accident claims due to deteriorating carriageways.
In April, a new funding package was approved by the council to try to tackle some of the worst-affected roads.
The council is yet to reveal the likely impact on motorists.
