Nurse guilty of killing woman by driving carelessly

A nurse has been convicted of causing the death of a woman in the Scottish Borders by careless driving.
Janette Davidson, 72, from Kelso, was killed in the two-car crash on the B6397 road near Floors Castle on 11 November 2022.
Angela Hislop, 48, also from Kelso, was found guilty of driving into the wrong lane by a majority verdict following a three-day jury trial at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Sentence was deferred until 20 January for background reports.
The charge read that Hislop drove without due care and attention, failed to maintain proper observations and drove into the opposite lane when it was unsafe to do so.
The court heard she had been returning from a 12-and-a-half hour shift at Borders General Hospital when the collision happened.
Hislop received an interim driving disqualification and will be sentenced next year.
