A woman has been arrested after residents complained to police of racist letters being posted through their mailbox.

Warwickshire Police is probing two incidents in Bedworth.

The detained woman, 52, was arrested on suspicion of making malicious communications, and has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

A spokesperson for the force said the incidents, which happened on 22 June, may involve a "wider underlying issue".

One letter told the occupants of the home to "go back to India".

Inspector Ryan Walker from Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhoods Team said: 鈥淲e understand the concern this has caused in the community, and we are committed to fully investigating.

"One of the lines of inquiry we are following at the moment is that there are wider underlying issues that need to be dealt with sensitively by all involved.鈥
