Pedestrian, 78, dies months after being hit by car

A 78-year-old man has died in hospital months after being hit by a car as he crossed a road in Maidstone, Kent Police has said.

A woman who was with the man was also injured in the crash at about 10:40 BST on 15 August, but she has since been discharged from hospital.

However, the elderly man died in hospital on 26 October.

Police said the driver of a black Ford Focus involved in the crash had stopped at the scene and has been assisting police with their inquiries.

Det Con Jim Galbraith said: "The victim had been walking from outside Boots and in the direction of the King Street car park when the collision happened."

He appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact police.
