Man dies after three-vehicle crash in Edinburgh

A 53-year-old man has died following a three-vehicle crash on the A720 near Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the scene between the Gogar roundabout and Hermiston Gait on Thursday morning following reports of a crash on the city bypass.

The crash involved a grey Volkswagen campervan, a grey Volkswagen Tiguan and a red Vauxhall Corsa.

The male driver of the Corsa was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later.

The driver of the Tiguan was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the campervan was not injured.

Inquiries into the circumstances around the crash are ongoing and police have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage to .

Police Sgt Grant Hastie said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man at this difficult time, and we will support them throughout the investigation."
