Flats plan sparks wellbeing concerns for tenants

Concerns have been raised over plans to build a development comprising flats and shops in a city's industrial area.
Developers are seeking permission to convert a car storage yard into a mixed-use development in Birksland Street in Bradford.
They said the 12 apartments proposed would "aim to attract long-term residency" while the four retail units would create employment.
Council health officers said they were not convinced the location for the scheme was suitable due to the impact of noise and air pollution on any potential residents.
Bradford City Council's Department for Health and Wellbeing said: 鈥淭he building will be affected by traffic, noise pollution and air pollution.
鈥淧ublic Health would like to ask if there has been a demonstration of the need for this type of build being proposed for residential flats at this location.
鈥淧ublic Health does not feel this is a location that鈥檚 conducive to the health and wellbeing of residents.鈥
Similarly, comments from Environmental Health officers requested a noise impact assessment was carried out, the Local Democracy Service reports.
"I am mindful that the proposed dwellings are close to industrial/commercial unit," it said.
"I therefore have concerns that these noise sources may give rise to a disturbance to the development鈥檚 future occupiers."
A decision on the application is pending.
